Descripción London and Birmingham: 1817; 1827; 1840, 1840. Three works in one volume, 8vo, original crimson moire silk, spine worn, cloth waterstained. One of "a few copies" of a collected edition of his works, comprising the sheets of his three main poems, with a 4-page section at the end, printed in Birmingham, reprinting a review of Britain's genius. Inscribed on the endpaper "To Henry Smith Esq. with the author's best respects. Novr. 14th, 1845." Kennedy (1772Ð1851), schoolmaster and poet, was of Scottish origin, but was raised in Annapolis in Maryland with his family, where they remained during and after the American revolution; his father had been sent there in order to introduce inoculation. Kennedy was considered to be one of the best classical scholars of his time, and published several poetical works. He had a great many friends in intellectual circles, including Coleridge, Washington Irving, Wordsworth, James Montgomery, Henry Francis Cary, Charles Kemble, and Sarah Siddons.
