1st. edition, very fine+ in black cloth boards with orange printing on the spine and author's signature on the front also in orange. Previous owners name written in red ink at top of front free endpaper. Also on the front free endpaper in the center is a label from Kroch's & Brentano's Booksellers with Bill Veeck's autograph in blue ink. Book shows very little wear, outer page edges are uncut as issued. Although the price clipped dust jacket with Veeck's picture on the front is essentialy complete, it is badly torn and generally beat up, it has large chips missing at the top and bottom of the spine, smaller chips off the corners, a long tear at the lower front spine about 4 inches long, another at the front upper flap fold about 5 inches long. Book is the autobiography of baseball's incorrigible maverick. A warmly personal, hugely hilarious story of a man who started out with eleven dollars in his pocket and wound up as the owner of the Cleveland Indians, the St. Louis Browns, and the Chicago White Sox. Here is the career of a promoter with a flair amounting to genius for entertaining the fans of baseball. N° de ref. de la librería 000907
