Descripción The Macmillan Company, New York, 1936. Octavo, pp. [1-7] 8-256, frontispiece, original light green cloth, front and spine panels stamped in black, top edge stained black, fore-edge untrimmed. First U.S. edition. Weird novel of an ancient family's curse of lycanthropy, featuring Miss Luna Bartendale, a female occult detective. Kerruish's "werewolf novel THE UNDYING MONSTER (1922) is one of the best in the genre." - Sullivan (ed), The Penguin Encyclopedia of Horror and the Supernatural, pp. 241-42. A "marginally Jamesian werewolf novel." - Pardoe, The James Gang, p. 10. The book "takes a creditable place by the side of DRACULA," not more than half a head shorter. Miss Kerruish has made a most exciting pattern out of Teutonic mythology, medieval necromancy, the Wars of the Roses, and the modern world. The horrors really horrify, and one is really concerned for the persons involved in them." - Edward Shanks. Basis for a 1943 film. Barron (ed), Horror Literature 3-114. Bleiler, The Guide to Supernatural Fiction 945. Locke, A Spectrum of Fantasy, p. 128. In 333. Bleiler (1978), p. 113. Reginald 08209. Private owner's bookplate affixed to front paste-down. Spine panel lightly sunned, some light, minor dust soiling to cloth, else a clean, tight, about near fine copy. A nice copy. (#90590). Nº de ref. de la librería 90590

Descripción The Macmillan Company, New York, 1936. Hardback. Estado de conservación: Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. First Edition. Kerruish, Jessie Douglas. The Undying Monster: A Tale of the Fifth Dimension. New York: The Macmillan Company, 1936. First U.S. edition. Octavo, pp. [1-7] 8-256. Original pale green cloth, front and spine panels lettered in dark brown, top edge stained dark gray, fore-edge rough trimmed. A crimp mark to top edge of rear cover has bitten slightly into the cloth, otherwise a nearly fine copy in a very good decorative dust jacket, with very minor, shallow chipping to spine ends and front flap fold; the rear panel (type on white paper) is unusually clean, and the front panel is very presentable indeed. Overall, a very nice copy. #443. $450. A novel set in contemporary Sussex, gradually linking an ancestral curse to lycanthropy. The author's style invokes antiquarian scholarly atmosphere as well as vivid horror. Widely regarded as one of the best werewolf novels. Nº de ref. de la librería 443
