Clean and tight in original cloth binding; a couple small spots of browning on endpapers, otherwise near fine in wonderful pictorial dustjacket with edgewear and a couple closed tears (now in protective mylar cover). OCLC: 1598985 Barbara Jones examines the "unsophisticated" arts including tattooing, taxidermy, food decorating, roundabouts, waxworks, gravestone carving, etc. Wonderful illustrations by the author throughout. An excellent appreciation of the edgy-er arts. Barbara Mildred Jones (1912 – 1978) was an English artist, writer and mural painter. Among many other endeavors, she worked for P&O, creating murals for the passenger liner ships SS Orcades, SS Oronsay, SS Orsova and SS Oriana, as well as for hotels, restaurants, exhibitions and schools. In 1951 she organised Black Eyes and Lemonade, a Festival of Britain exhibition of popular and traditional art at the Whitechapel Gallery. For an excellent peak into the world of Barbara Jones and her taste for things "off kilter" look at the Bible of British Taste Blog for May 2013. N° de ref. de la librería
