Descripción:

6 issues of the magazine, November 1899 through April 1900, bound in half leather-covered boards (hardbound), 25 full page color illustrations, numerous color and black and white in-text illustrations, 13 1/2 x 9 3/4 inches. There is a one inch tear to one page and a little light soiling in the right margin of the first issue, otherwise the interior is very clean and tight (leather extremities very rubbed, front hinge starting, endpapers creased). Only one cover (March - a great deco image of a woman with long red hair by P.U. Boston?) is bound in. This magazine is notable for the superior quality of its color printing, with excellent examples (incorporating the use of gold ink) illustrating the article "The American Christmas Card" by Ethel D. Puffer. Full page illustrations include "A Tree Song" by Maud Humphrey showing a girl holding a Christmas tree on which birds are landing, a fashion illustration by Redgren "A Handsome Reception Gown" showing a woman in a red gown, "Mission of San Juan Capistrano" by H.G. Maratta, full page color portraits of actresses and numerous illustrations of notable buildings and their interiors. Articles include "Golf in Winter", "Rapid Transit in New York and Elsewhere", "The City of Buffalo" with full page color illustration "The Water Front at Buffalo," and "The National Capital" with black and white photo illustrations and a full page color illustration by Charles Graham "A Glimpse of the Capitol".
