Book condition: very good, very scarce 1853 publication, filled with stunning b/w illustrations along with eight beautiful hand tinted color illustrations including frontis and half title page, adventures on a world wide scale including areas as far flung as China, South Africa, Maine and the Rocky Mountains, animals hunted include grizzly bears, giraffes, crocodiles, porcupines, boa constrictors and many more, richly detailed leather boards give off a blue/green sheen and show minor scuffing to corners and spine head and tail, the elaborate gilt design on the spine is a work of art, marbled pastedowns and endpapers, light to moderate foxing throughout, mostly confined to margins, binding tight, 512 pages, 6 X 9.25 inches.
