[32] p., printed on glossy paper + [20] mimeographed leaves of text on yellow paper with catalogue and artists' biographies bound in at center. 56 ill. (2 color, including covers). Catalogue of 303 works exhibited, with biographical notes on fifty-two artists whose works are reproduced, including forty-five women. Rare catalogue of a New York cooperative whose membership was allowed to exhibit annually in the Guild¿s galleries exempt from jury and entry fees. Though some better-known artists are listed (Margaret Fitzhugh Browne, Edwin Denby, Eloise Egan, Anna Hyatt Huntington, Maud Kerns, Jane Peterson, and John Rood), the value of this catalogue lies in the numerous reproductions of works by and biographies of many lesser-known artists, most of whose names may not seem familiar (such as Aleen Aked, Celine Baekeland, Alice Conklin Bevin, Frank Callcott, Betty M. Carter, Katherine Pyle Cole, Lilian Giffen, Lucile Robertson, Antoinette Scudder, and Mary Clare Sherwood, and others). N° de ref. de la librería 025235

Descripción de la librería

R.W. Smith Bookseller was established in 1975 as a specialist in rare and out-of-print reference material on art, architecture, design and photography, with American art our leading specialty. We are situated on the southwest corner of historic East Rock Park in New Haven, one-fourth mile off Exit 6, I-91, with free on-street parking, and splendid views of the Park. We welcome vistors (by appointment) to our premises, located in a three-story Victorian house with seven rooms for browsing. With over 40,000 different titles, including books, exhibition catalogues and ephemera on American art alone, we are the leading specialists in that field. Our collection of pre-1900 imprints on American art is one of the largest of its kind in private hands. We have published over forty catalogues on subjects such as American Women Artists, American Sculpture, Nineteenth Century American Art Imprints, African-American Art, The Armory Show and its Exhibitors, etc. We welcome inquiries and want lists in our fields of specialty. Member: Antiquarian Booksellers of America (ABAA), International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB) and Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS-NA). Listed in Who's Who in American Art.
