1 volume in 4, plein veau marbré, dos à nerfs orné, coupes filetées. [1] 3 ff.n.ch., XVI -385 pp., 10 ff.n.ch.   L'illustration comprend un frontispice, une vignette sur le titre par Soubeyran, 3 bandeaux par Cochin, 39 planches dépliantes représentant pour la plupart les calculs et projections géométriques, pour les autres, les armes et instruments de mesures propre à l'artillerie par Dheulland et de tableaux hors-texte dont 4 dépliants.    L'ouvrage est divisé en 3 parties : Sur le mécanisme de la poudre (où il est traité de la force de la poudre, son effet, son action et ses conséquences sur le dosage de la charge proportionnellement au poids du boulet, l'épaisseur de la bouche à feu). - Sur les projections (mouvements et projections, calculs balistiques calqués sur les observations et les théories de Galilée). - Sur les percussions (à propos de la construction des batteries, sur l'effet de l'évacuation des gaz après les tirs).    Cette publication fait suite aux nombreux travaux du 18e s. siècle pour perfectionner l'artillerie, dix ans après le premier traité emblématique en matière de balistique, celui de Belidor. Joseph Dulacq (1706-1756) était un brillant capitaine de l'armée piémontaise, commandant l'école d'Artillerie de Turin. Bien qu'ayant attiré sur lui de fréquentes disgrâces, pour son caractère emporté, Dulacq offre ici une très belle dédicace à son prince Charles Emmanuel III, Duc de Savoie, qui fit preuve de réels talents militaires lors de la conquête du Milanais.   Manque la coiffe supérieure sinon bel exemplaire. Descripción Rilegato. Estado de conservación: molto buono. A Paris, chez Charles-Antoine Jombert, Libraire du Roy pour l'artillerie & le Genie, a l'image Notre-Dame, 1741 (In fine: De l'imprimerie de Jacques Chardon, rue Galande, 1741). In-4 (mm. 250x190), pp.(8), XVI, 985 (i.e. 385), (20). Vignetta calcografica al frontespizio con armi reali, dedicatoria al Re di Sardegna, deliziose vignette calcografiche disegnate e incise da Carlo Nicola Cochin, filio (mm.125x700), 39 tavv. calcogr. f.t. più volte ripieg. Legatura in p. pelle coeva, dorso a nervi con scomparti decorati a fregi floreali in oro, tass. con tit. in oro. Tagli in rosso. Freschissimo esemplare, privo dell'antiporta calcografica che non fu inserta in tutti gli esemplari. Edizione originale e unica. L'autore, nato a Chambery verso il 1706 e morto ad Alessandria nel 1757, fu capitano di artiglieria del Re di Sardegna e Comandante delle Scuole di Campagna dello stesso corpo a Torino. L'opera registra esperienze e riflessioni nuove e curiose di estremo interesse per la storia dello sviluppo della teoria e della pratica dell¿Arma. L'autore esamina infatti tutte le questioni sulla qualità della polvere, sul moto che essa trasmette al corpo mobile dentro alle bocche da fuoco, sulla resistenza delle volte contro la percussione delle bombe. Scopre parecchie nuove proprietà del moto uniforme, di cui le più importanti sono quelle che portano a determinare l'angolo di elevazione che dà la maggiore portata di un pezzo, quando la batteria è posta sopra una pianura, problema fino ad allora risolto in modo errato. Propone inoltre un nuovo strumento per calcolare la linea del tragitto che un proiettile descrive nel vuoto quando è scagliato in una qualsiasi direzione con una forza definita.
