The Forking Paths is a small online bookstore, physically located in the borderlands of Vermont and Quebec, spiritually located in the uneasy space where the vast online ocean laps the shores of the local, the bioregional, the personal, the idiosyncratic. For us, a used bookstore is a mine where the physical remains of the near and distant past are brought into the light to nourish the present and strengthen spirits for the journey down the mind's endlessly forking paths. The Forking Paths is our quixotic stand in the face of e-commerce's relentless anonymity, against algorithms, bookjackers and bots.
