Descripción

Texas--Proud and Loud by Boyce House was published by The Naylor Company in 1945. Not an ex-library copy, this 104-page, 5 1/2" X 8", Signed First Edition, for its 66 years, is in VG condition. The book's only weaknesses are some yellowing of its endpapers front and back as well as the text's pages, and the presence of a Christmas-theme bookplate, with the recipient's name typed on the "to" line, centered on the front loose end page. The book is SIGNED beneath the title on the half title page. This offering's greatest asset, in my estimation, are the many delightful Drawings of one Winston Croslin. It would take a true Texan to FULLY appreciate the sentiments expressed throughout this semi-tongue-in-cheek, yet still loving, homage to the Lone Star State. Having lived in Texas for one year while attending college from August, 1972, to August, 1973, I can attest to the more enlightened attitude most modern day Texans convey concerning race relations. The author cannot be accused of possessing said enlightened attitude. Read portions of this offering with this in mind/at your own risk. If you are seeking examples of racial stereotyping, to perhaps use in a teaching environment with children or young adults, this book, in certain parts, will cheerfully provide them. Suffice to say, this was one author--a dyed-in-the-wool, unapologetic Texan--who was definitely feeling his post-WW II oats! Thank you!!. N° de ref. de la librería 004919
