Includes attractive, coloured, fold out numbered plan of Guy's Almshouses in Tamworth (one of the 48 charities examined) with named tenants and rents. A Grammar school had existed in the borough of Tamworth from the 16th century "for the education and instruction of boys in grammar". However the school gradually declined until it was closed altogether. Trustees then decided that Tamworth Free Grammar School, as it was known, should be reserected on a different site, out of town on a freehold site. Opposition came from others, led by Sir Robert Peel, Baronet and there ensued a bitter wrangle over trustees (of nine, 5 either dead or too old,infirm or sick to attend), terms of a new scheme, administration of funds .etc., N° de ref. de la librería 115057
