Descripción

Revised draft script for the 1970 television movie. Based on the novel of the same name by David Westheimer. First aired on NBC on January 20, 1970, the film was later given a brief theatrical release. The tragic story of a black Civil Rights lawyer from New York, played by Freeman, who is falsely accused of a crime while working in Texas. Fleeing to a cabin on the Gulf Coast, he meets the pregnant Duke, and a friendship slowly develops between the pair. While filming in Port Bolivar, the production experienced almost as much racial tension as that depicted in the film, largely stemming from Duke's real-life friendship with Freeman. Critically acclaimed, the film won a Directors Guild of America award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Television, and three Primetime Emmys, also nominated for another five. Set in rural Texas, shot on location in Galveston and Port Bolivar, Texas. Lacking titled wrappers. Title page present, noted as production No. 81269, dated 4/17/69, noted as Rev, with credits for screenwriters Levinson and Link, and novelist Westheimer. 125 leaves, mimeograph, with white revision pages throughout, dated variously between 4/4/69 and 4/17/69. Pages Very Good plus, lacking wrapper, bound with two gold brads. N° de ref. de la librería 132162
