First Edition. Orange cloth with photo illustrations of this great Artist. Autobiography of the violinist Joseph Szigeti. Includes 15 half-tone illustration. Dust jacket good though a bit faded and sunned on spine, DJ edges with the usual chips and repairs to spine, under mylar brodart not price clipped, text block is fine. Signed Presentation copy from Szigeti to an admirer in memory of many delightful times signed and dated July, 14, 1947. "This is the informal autobiography of one of the world's greatest violinists. But it follows no strait or narrow path; with the charm of a good conversationalist, the author passes from reminiscence to whatever that reminiscence calls to his mind - perhaps a searching portrait of one of his famous contemporaries, perhaps a short disquisition on violin-playing or programme-making, perhaps keen and amusing sides of life itself. Because he is a thoroughly civilized man, because he has had a full life, and because his career has brought him into contract with interesting personalities, the result is a most satisfying piece of work. Although Mr. Szigeti's book will appeal especially to music enthusiasts, it will be of genuine interest to many who do not usually read musicians' books. It is a picture of twentieth-century life seen through the eyers of a keen observer and told in his own highly personal manner Size: 8vo. N° de ref. de la librería 007883
