My father worked for that outfit until he fell from an engine catwalk and injured his spine. Misdiagnosed as a polio victim, he was shipped to Sheltering Arms in St. Paul for six months. He got back to work in time to be layed off due to the switch from steam to diesel, after which he worked only on call. Still, the New York Central is linked with happy memories of a trip to Cleveland for baseball, among others. This book will delight any true lover of trains.
