Estimating script for the 1968 film. A numerical notation ("21") in holograph blue ink on the title page. Script is a composite of different drafts assembled just prior to the final script stage, with differing reproduction styles, fonts, etc.Nominated for seven Academy Awards, even though it was a box-office flop. Originally a project for Judy Garland in 1955, slated as a follow-up to her successful 1954 film, "A Star Is Born," directed by George Cukor, but Garland lost the Academy Award for it, and the project was abandoned. A decade later, Julie Andrews starred in this biopic about the onstage and offstage life of actress Gertrude Lawrence. 185 sets were built for the film, featuring extravagant musical production numbers with Andrews acting, singing, and dancing. Shot on location in England and New York. Blue studio wrappers, noted as ESTIMATING on the front wrapper, copy No. 65, dated May 25, 1966. Title page present, dated May 25, 1966, noted as Estimating, with credits for screenwriter Fairchild and the production company, Argyle Enterprises. 213 leaves, mimeograph, eye-rest green stock.
