Editorial: London: Kegan Paul. 1928
Año de publicación: 1928
Edición: First Edition.
INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR TO SAMUEL M. BURKA, with a reference to the article in American Mercury [March 1924] that formed the germ of this volume. An arctic explorer of Islandic decent, Stefansson (1879-1962) led a series of important expeditions between 1904 and 1916, locating previously unknown populations of Esquimos, and charting previously undiscovered territory, including the edge of the continental shelf. Travelling in extreme regions, he lived on the ice pack for over a year at a time. This volume, published in the Pysche Minatures series, draws on his travels and his experiences among the Inuit to present a brief theory of epistemology. The receipient, Dr. Samuel M. Burka (1891-1958), was a pioneer in developing scientific apparatus for exploration. Since 1959, the Institute of Navigation has granted an annual award in his honor for advances in navigation and space guidance. A very interesting association. Front flyleaf probably lacking, else a very good copy in lightly worn boards with a chip to one of the rear corners. Mattila A13. N° de ref. de la librería 12786
