0275051307 1974 signed first edition, Praeger Publishers (NY), 5 3/4 x 8 1/2 inches tall hardbound in publisher's unclipped dust jacket, green paper-covered boards over blue cloth spine, black lettering to spine, grey endpapers, illustrations by Eli Levin, 127 pp. Slight rubbing to covers. Nicely inscribed and signed by the author on the half title page. Otherwise, a very good copy - clean, bright and unmarked - in a very good dust jacket which is nicely preserved and displayed in a clear archival Brodart sleeve. ~OO~ Meyer Levin (1905 - 1981) was an American novelist. Levin worked as a journalist (for the Chicago Daily News and, from 1933-39, as an editor for Esquire), and in 1956 wrote Compulsion, inspired by the Leopold and Loeb case. The novel, for which Levin was given a Special Edgar Award by the Mystery Writers of America in 1957, was the basis for Levin's own 1957 play adaptation and the 1959 film based on it, starring Orson Welles. Compulsion was 'the first documentary or non-fiction novel (a style later used in Truman Capote's In Cold Blood and Norman Mailer's The Executioner's Song). N° de ref. de la librería OO-1251-5010
