The Opinionated Bookseller
(Florence, KY, Estados Unidos de America)

Descripción James Crissy, Philadelphia, 1844. Full-Leather. Estado de conservación: Good +. The Spectator is a great source of information about life and manners in English society in the early 1700s. It was "one of the boldest experiments in journalism," intentionally containing no news and made popular mainly due to its fine essays by Joseph Addison. It failed within a few months because of the death of its patron, King William, and its resultant financial difficulties." (From an old newspaper clipping found in another Spectator volume). This book contains the seventh and eighth volumes: Vol. VII is 274 pages, Vol. VIII is 258 pages; tan calf boards with black and gilt title block on the spine. Front and back boards are just cleanly separated, edges and ends are worn and chipped, previous owner's name in quill pen ink on the second free endpaper with 1846 date; text is a little darkened but clean, unmarked, and in excellent condition. Size: 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall. Nº de ref. de la librería PER02700
