Six volumes. Royal quarto. Pp. viii, 161; 407, plus a suite of 17 plates, mostly folding, original Errata slip loosely inserted; vi, 446; iv, 258 photographs and plans, some in colour, some folding, illustrated Errata slip correcting an erroneous drawing, loosely inserted; xviii, 21, 335 plates, some folding; 213, plus frontispiece and 3 plans at end, figures and photographs. First two volumes are hardcover, profusely illustrated, uniformly bound in the original publisher's full cloth, colour vignette to each title, gilt lettering to spine and decoration to cover, with dust-jackets, each placed in original slipcase. Volumes III-VI are in the original white stiff wrappers, titles printed in purple and black, vignette illustration repeated on cover. Volume VI is hardcover, original printed boards, brand new. In fine condition. Excellent set with most of the volumes in crisp new condition. ~ First edition. Complete six-volume set of this mammoth production, spanning a period of almost 40 years of work. The first two volumes were published by Sansoni of Firenze, and the rest by the Institut Français d'Archéologie Orientale who took over the project under the supervision of Nathalie Beaux.
