This French musician and composer was appointed harpist to Napoleon in 1813, giving lessons to Empress Josephine and Marie Louise, which made harp-playing all the rage among Parisian elite; later he became harpist to Louise XVIII and the duc de Berri; fleeing France on forgery charges, he became celebrated in London, and toured Ireland with George IV; he served as professor of harp at the Royal Academy of Music briefly, andconducted the King's Theatre from 1826 to 1832; later he toured America, and died in Australia while touring there. Bold, sloppy "Ch. Bochsa" signature in brown ink, 3¼" X 1½" slip (tipped to slightly larger sheet), n.p., n.y. Near fine. Nice example of this uncommon signature. N° de ref. de la librería 31653
