The son of CSA general Joseph R. Anderson himself fought with the 21st Virginia Infantry, notably at the Battle of the Seven Days, Battle of Sharpsburg (where he lay wounded and unconscious for ten hours), Battle of Chickamauga and Battle of Bentonville; he delivered the oration for the dedication of the R.E. Lee statue in Richmond in 1890; a noted industrialist, upon his father's death in 1892 he assumed the presidency of the important Richmond ironworks, Tredegar Company. Clipped signature, 5" X 2¼", Richmond, VA, 1890 July 22. Near fine. Very lightly age toned. Below a printed "Received" (next to which he pens "Richmond July 22d") and printed "1890" (next to which he pens "with thanks"), Anderson signs large and bold in brown ink. (Below this appears a boldly pencilled "I send you today a copy of / a recent address. dh" in an unidentified hand.) Nice example. N° de ref. de la librería 31353
