Volume one, of a two volume series listing names of ships that have served in the Royal Navy up to the late 1960s, carries the names of about 13,000 major RN fighting ships, excluding mainly small units such as trawlers, tugs. uxilliaries and requisitioned ships, whice were entered in volume two, bringing the total number of entries up to 24,000. In this first volume entries generally follow the format of ship's name, type, tonnage, dimensions, armament, builder, completion/commissioning date, fate. Similar details are provided for ships of the sail navy, including those captured, re-named and often re-employed against their former compatriots. An excellent reference for the naval buff. Introductory and explanatory notes, including warship classes, plus addenda at front. 624 pages. Blue hard covers with gilt spine titles VG++ with hint of fading spine extremities, NF internally, no inscriptions. Blue DJ with white front/spine titles VG with wear to upper/lower edges, turn of flap folds and spine hinges, no loss of surface, front flap price clipped but printed price sticker above clipped area.
