Descripción Publ for the Author, N Y, N Y, 1870. Hardcover. Estado de conservación: Good with no dust jacket. First Edition. B&W Illustrations; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; x, 205 pages; Seven Wives and Seven Prisons; or, Experiences in the Life of a Matrimonial Monomaniac: A True Story Written by Himself . Frontis is "My first and worst wife." An interestingly written account. Bound in blindstamped brown cloth, this antique volume is a scarce (fictional) autobiography. The author claims that this work is indeed a true account of how he happened to be married seven times to seven different women and (humorous) events that led to the marriages and of how the failures of each marriage often landed him in prison. The summarist finds the work a very tongue-in-cheek diatribe/lament/account of his obsessive zeal in "marrying the right one," but is also the mirthful chronicle of the author’s very unconventional adventures. The work contains a frontispiece illustration and other full-page engravings. The volume shows external age/wear, with fraying along gutters and at ends of spine. Lightly age-toned pages show occasional foxing and smudging. Rear endpaper shows tears to upper inner corners. Previous owner's name appears in pencil on preliminary page. The book measures approximately 4 3/4" x 7". Wright 3.; 0. Nº de ref. de la librería 29985
