First Edition. First British edition, first printing, (just) September 1934 (to edition page) . Half title page + Rex Whistler Colour frontispiece + Title page + edition page + contents page + 522 pages. Condition: Maroon hardback binding good, with some ageing, corner tip wear, signs of spine reglued, Size approx 20.5 x 13.cm. Contents most pages very good and clean, title page has mark, text good/very good, the odd very minor mark, just a few ?The Pelican Library? small stamps, tatty remains of library pockets/plates inside front & rear covers, some movement of binding with contents, especially inside front at spine holding, though some splitting. From net; Author was Baroness Karen Christenze von Blixen-Finecke, nee Dinesen c1885- 1962 was a Danish author who wrote works in Danish and English. She is also known under her pen name Isak Dinesen, and Tania Blixen, Osceola, and Pierre Andrézel. Her most famous work was ?Out of Africa? an account of her life while living in Kenya. Blixen was considered several times for the Nobel Prize in Literature, but it wasn't awarded because judges were reportedly concerned about showing favouritism to Scandinavian writers, according to Danish newspaper reports. 1st edition copy that was so popular when published, it went through 3 editions at least in September 1934 alone.
