Sinopsis: This is a journey through Scotland's landscape, through memory and history and the landscape of memory. It is a voyage that spans the borders, the Highlands and the Isles, pausing for reflection on the byways of history for recollection of incidents and characters encountered in the author's professional life as historian, scriptwriter and novelist.
Críticas: "A sumptuously illustrated, beautifully written voyage sentimentale et historique through romantic Scotland." - "Sunday Telegraph" "Combines the intimate personal approach of Alistair Cooke's "America" with [a] sense of history." - "History Today"
