The dust jacket blurb states: "A new picture is given of the fifteenth century by use of unpublished manuscript materials, by searching criticism of previous estimates, and by a varied method of approach from the various avenues of scholasticism and humanism, philosophy and natural science, law and political thought, medicine and surgery, geography and mathematics. The work is fully documented and presents numerous extracts from the original texts, including two complete treatises on the Platonic ideas by Nicolo dea Foligno, now published for the first time" [in Latin].
