The School for Scandal and The Rivals bySheridan,the first editionillustrated by Edmund Sullivan and with an introduction by Augustine Birrell. First edition thus. Richard Brinsley Butler Sheridan (1751 - 1816) was an Irish-born playwright and poet and long-term owner of the London Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. He is known for his plays such as The Rivals, The School for Scandal and A Trip to Scarborough. Edmund Joseph Sullivan (1869 - 1933), usually known as E. J. Sullivan, was a British book illustrator who worked in a style which merged the British tradition of illustration from the 1860s with aspects of Art Nouveau. Condition: In a decorative cloth binding. Externally, smart but with slight bumping to extremities and the odd very slight marks to boards. Internally, generally firmly bound although slightly strained in places. Bright but with slight scattered foxing and a very slight tidemark to text block edge in one place. Overall: VERY GOOD. N° de ref. de la librería 025441
