From the web site of The Old Stile Press: "These drawings were published almost half a century before the idea of publishing them in a book was presented, after Nicolas and Frances McDowall saw them on the artist's blog at Easter. Natalie d'Arbeloff was an art student in New York City when she first dipped a brush in Indian ink, and these drawings emerged in quick succession. A sense of freedom and excitement marked this period. Abstract expressionism was in the air and d'Arbeloff was for a while studying with Jack Tworkov, one of its leading practitioners, in his studio next door to De Kooning.
