From the Author:
Sail Upon the Land is my second published novel. Like my first, One Apple Tasted, I couldn't stop myself from scrambling back up the characters' family trees to try and discover why they were where and how they were.
For me, writing fiction is instinctive, a rag bag plucked from life lived and books read, of memories, ideas, impressions and thoughts about love, relationships, parenting, society, class and history, goodness and the opposite.
I have little or no control over what my characters do, and editing is always a fascinating and satisfying process, as I try to work out what on earth I thought I was doing.
Ideally, good writing should eliminate friction in the reader's mind. The best stories slip past all resistance and put forth fresh thoughts that are not the author's.
That surely is what we all aim for, but it is up to you now. I have abandoned Sail Upon the Land, launching it into an unknown world. If it comes to life in your mind, I would love to hear about it.

What independent readers and reviewers have to say: Powerful, familiar, heart-wrenching characters that leached into my heart. Compulsive reading. Unputdownable. Read it and weep. Unusually well-written. It s a really enjoyable read, which often had me wanting to reach into the book to give the characters a much-needed hug! The writing was gritty and real, particularly the parts concerned with birth and motherhood. Nº de ref. de la librería LIE9780993124808
