All in VG condition or better in cloth hardcover; vol. II and III have VG+ and Good dust jackets respectively. Þorsteinn Þ. Þorsteinsson, 1879-1955, edited vols. 1., 2. and 3; Tryggvi J. Oleson edited vols. 4.and 5 (the latter not offered here). SUBJECTS : A seminal work on the history of emigration of Icelanders to North America, particularly Canada. Volumes 1-3 deal with Icelandic settlement in western Canada. Biography, Genealogy, Icelandic-Canadians/Americans; North America/Norður Ameríka; Saga; Reference; Land settlement ; Prairie Provinces--History. Add. Entry : Tryggvi J. Oleson 1912-1963. The editor, Þorsteinn Þ. Þorsteinsson, was a noted Icelandic-Canadian poet, editor, short story writer and writer of Icelandic-Canadian historical works. He lived in Winnipeg (source: Einarsson, History of Icelandic Prose Writers, pp. 247-8). His works have been repeatedly re-published in Iceland. The second editor, Tryggvi J. Oleson 1912-1963, was a history professor at the University of Manitoba and an author; he personally wrote the section on the Icelandic emigrants who settled in Winnipeg. Referenced in Hjartar, page 50. At time of cataloguing, few listing of complete sets on Amicus; Peel (3rd Ed.), #7429.
