THIS IS A PROMOTIONAL PRESS KIT FOR THE WORLD PREMIERES OF DAVID MAMET'S PLAYS "THE SHAWL" AND "THE SPANISH PRISONER" THAT WAS FIRST PRESENTED AT "THE BRIAR STREET THEATRE" IN CHICAGO, IL ON APRIL 19 - MAY 19, 1985. THE PLAYS WERE SPONSORED BY "THE CHICAGO THEATRE GROUP/GOODMAN THEATRE OF CHICAGO, IL TO OPEN THE "BRIAR STREET THEATRE." THE PACKET CONTAINS FIVE GLOSSY B/W 8" X 10" PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE ACTORS LINDSEY CROUSE, MIKE NUSSBAUM,AND GARY COLE IN SCENES FROM "THE SHAWL.". ALSO INCLUDED IS A THREE PAGE 8 1/2" X 11" INFORMATIONAL PRINTING ON TAN PAPER WITH THE HEADING "THE NEW THEATRE COMPANY." THERE ARE SHORT BIOGRAPHIES OF DAVID MAMET AND THE ACTORS. THE WORLD PREMIERE PLAYS BY DAVID MAMET WERE THE SECOND PRODUCTION OF "THE NEW THEATRE COMPANY." THE MEMBERS OF THE 1985 NEW THEATRE COMPANY ARE LISTED AND INCLUDE DAVID MAMET, LINDSAY CROUSE, W. H. MACY, GREGORY MOSHER, MIKE NUSSBAUM AMONG OTHERS. THERE IS CONSIDERABLE INFORMATION ON THE THEATRE SCENE IN CHICAGO AT THE TIME. LASTLY, THERE IS A TICKET ENVELOPE WITH TWO TICKET STUBS FOR THE APRIL 28, 1985 PERFORMANCE OF THE PLAYS AT THE BRIAR STEET THEATRE WITH THE LOGO OF THE NEW THEATRE COMPANY OF A LEAPING BUFFALO MOST LIKELY IN REFERENCE TO DAVID MAMET'S "AMERICAN BUFFALO."
