The interests of rail uers & rail companies were frequently in conflict. Rail users wished to see strong competition and price wars while the companies sought monopoly rights. Among the many prominent railway developers who gave evidence were George Hudson and James Pim. Hudson, the "railway king", described railway finance and tariff policy. The committee recommended the establishment of a government department to supervise the railway companies. Numerous timetables and information on fares and carriage rates. A very clean copy.
