Silografia impressa su carta vergellata priva di filigrana, databile al primo quarto del XVI sec.; al verso, doppio timbro di collezione elsquo;PSersquo;, non identificato da Lugt. Monogramma su tavoletta sul bordo destro, al margine inferiore titolo su due linee. Prima variante su tre (Meder 224 a/c). Rifilata lungo il bordolinea, sempre presente. Esemplare in buono stato di conservazione dalla vivida inchiostratura; al verso, alcune abrasioni agli angoli, chiusura di uno strappo allersquo;angolo superiore destro, leggera abrasione allersquo;angolo superiore sinistro. STRAUSS 85 - Di tutte le silografie elsquo;modesteersquo;, questa è lersquo;unica che reca un testo: elsquo;Le ferite che hai portato per Cristo, o Francesco, prego che possano essere la medicina per i nostri maliersquo;.ehellip; La resa è tradizionale e molto simile allersquo;illustrazione per una postilla. Come narrato nella Legenda Aurea, durante una visione elsquo;un serafino crocifisso premette le sue stimmate così profondamente su San Francesco, che sembrava che fosse stato crocifisso lui stessoersquo; La vegetazione è la più vicina a quella di Giovanni Battista e Santersquo;Onofrio, ma gli alberi sullo sfondo sono disegnati in modo leggermente diverso dai consueti semicerchi di Dürer, indicando così unersquo;altra mano per il disegno finale.
