Descripción Macmillan and Co., London, 1941. No Binding. Estado de conservación: Fine. 5th or later Edition. Winston Churchill Archive. MY EARLY LIFE. A Roving Commission. SIGNED COPY.London: Macmillan and Co., 1941. First published in 1930. The publishing rights were later transferred to Macmillan and Company in 1941. First edition thus, in this format. 8vo. Numerous plates, and maps, complete. 392pp. Blue cloth, gilt titles still bright. SIGNED in Churchill's handwriting: "from Winston Churchill, 1943". Blue cloth, with some expert restorations to spine head cap. This grouping includes FIVE ADDITIONAL ITEMS. 2 notes + 3 photographs. A TYPED PRESENTATION NOTE "With Mr. Churchill's Compliments" that came with MY EARLY LIFE. Accompanied by a TYPED NOTE from Charles Ralfe Thompson, aide-de-camp to Churchill during WWII. Came with the book. The recipient of the book, apparently a presentation copy, appears to have been Mr. Maxim T. Gray, O.L.S., who was the Niagara Parks Commission General Manager when Winston Churchill and his daughter visited Niagara Falls in 1943. A typed letter from C.R. Thompson, writing from Washington, D.C. to Maxim Gray (that came with the book and photographs) attests to the connection. THE THREE PHOTOGRAPHS: Two Photographs measure (5" x 7"). One photograph shows Walter Thompson (Churchill's bodyguard) with Churchill at Niagara Falls. The Second photograph shows Churchill's daughter, Mary Soames who appears in uniform. The Third photo is a press photograph of "CHURCHILL AND ROOSEVELT OFF TO CHRISTMAS SERVICE" [Acme Newspictures]. Measures approximately 9" x 6.5". On the back it is dated ( 12-25-41), only 18 days after the bombing of Pearl Harbour. All in all, a great archive. EXTRA SHIPPING COST due to value of archive. Signed by Author(s).
