Large color map with linen backing, 39 3/4 x 29 1/2 inches on sheet size 42 3/4 x 31 inches, folding into pictorial thin card cover 9 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches. Covers lightly soiled; very good condition. 1942 (sixth) edition of map first published in 1929. A reprint "with major corrections" of the 1939 edition. Published under the direction of Brigadier C. G. Lewis, OBE, Surveyor General of India. Very detailed road map (scale 50 miles to 1 inch) of British India, including Ceylon. An inset depicts the eastern portion of the country and a portion of Burma. In addition to roadways, rail lines are shown. The 24 panels fold down neatly into blue cloth case measuring 19 x 14 cms (7.5 x 5.5 inches approx.). Spine faded with edge splits. Gilt title faded.Corners of coverslightly bumped & rubbed. With the exception the printed name of a couple of major cities i.e.Bombay & Karachi ringed neatly in biro & occasional margin stains the map itself is very good. Good+ overall. Descripción Automobile Association of Northern India, Lahore. 44 x 16 Ins. Folding map, dissected, linen mounted, double sided, unfolded size 44 x 16ins. Folding into original blue cloth boards printed in faded gilt on front board, boards with minor wear at corners buut the map very clean. This map was heliozincographed by the Survey of India in Calcutta and shows roads from Delhi northwards through the Punjab as far as the Afghan border [showing Peiwar Kotal and Landi Kotal, the Swat river in the far north and in the north east as far as the border with Tibet.
