Nel 1639 veniva edita a Bracciano una raccolta di componimenti poetici dedicati a una celebre virtuosa del tempo, Eleonora Baroni, intitolata "Applausi poetici alle glorie della signora Leonora Baroni". Tra i sonetti, composti per l'occasione dai più noti poeti e letterati della Roma barocca, in italiano, latino, spagnolo e francese, spicca quello a firma di monsignor Giulio Rospigliosi, l'alto prelato animatore del Teatro Barberini che, nel 1667, sarebbe asceso al soglio pontificio col nome di Clemente IX e che in questa raccolta, con vivida e lucida verve descrittiva, celebra il ritratto della cantante e musicista realizzato dall'artista perugino Fabio della Corgna. Nel volume Cristina Galassi ricostruisce le biografie del pittore e della musicista ritratta, indaga la vicenda del dipinto e discute brillantemente il tema della pittura encomiastica nella Roma al tempo dei Barberini, ricostruendo il clima lascivo e sensuale della capitale, animato da cortigiane, cantanti e castrati.
