**NOT EX-LIBRARY** 216 pages. In the "thick" format, with light green cloth-covered boards, maroon (pink, mauve, purple?) lettering embossed on front and spine, and the "open door" pictorial embossed on the front. The front and rear pictorial endpapers are the "flashlight on the stairs", also in pink (maroon, mauve, purple?), and the top exterior page edges are dyed the same pink to match. Dustjacket has white spine. With four glossy, full-page, black-&-white plates by Pelagie Doane (one plate is detached but is neatly in place and is undamaged. Front dustjacket flap lists just to this title, as do the title listings within the book itself. Rear jacket flap lists Melody Lane books to "The Dragon of the Hills", and rear jacket panel lists Nancy Drew books to "The Mystery of the Ivory Charm". The book itself is in amazing condition, shows at most only extremely occasional, very brief and faint signs of any use or age (a couple of small spots of soiling to the bottom exterior page edges, the detached plate as mentioned, no other notable flaws). The book is exceptionally clean, bright and stain-free, square and straight, very firm and tight in its binding, hinges sound and completely undamaged, all corners are sharp and unbumped. The green exterior boards, especially, are remarkably fresh, bright and crisp, virtually like new. There is a brief gift inscription on the blank reverse of the frontispiece, dated Christmas 1937, but no other writing, underlining, highlighting or markings of any kind in the book. The pages are bright and white, clean and unsoiled, all text crisp and sharp. The dustjacket is exceptionally clean, bright and stain-free, colors to the front panel illustration still bright and vivid. The jacket shows light-to- moderate, occasional edgewear, and brief, very shallow, infrequent chipping, but with all front and rear panel artwork and graphics intact and complete. There is a diagonal piece missing from the top of the jacket spine which has taken about half of the word "The" from the beginning of the title, but no other pieces missing. There is one very well-closed, inobtrusive, edge-tear at the top edge of the rear panel. NOT PRICE-CLIPPED (50c). A very good, quite acceptable example of the jacket, and an exceptional, very collectible copy of the book itself. Jacket in removable clear mylar cover. N° de ref. de la librería 010432
