Laid in is a letter from the author, on the author's stationery, to Tony Bill, dated the year of publication: "Dear Tony Bill / I've thought and thought and waited around to be asked, etc; now I'm just sending this along to you." The letter goes on to suggest that Bill contact See about a possible film option, mentioning that "the Pulitzer People" have already been in-touch.From the collection of Oscar-winning director and producer Tony Bill, whose credits include "The Sting" (1973, producer), "Soldier in the Rain" (1963, actor), "Shampoo" (1975, actor), and "Five Corners" (1987, director-producer).
