The unclipped pictorial dust jacket has creasing along top edges with a 3cm closed tear (repaired) at centre of front top edge. Reset edition published by Harper Collins in 2002 bearing printing numbers 1 to 9.Paginated 755 to 1170 inclusive, including appendices at rear, plus separately paginated prelims. Usual maps as end papers. Delightfully illustrated with magnificent full page colour plates by Alan Lee. This early 'reset' illustrated edition is scarce within the UK. A heavy book, which will incur extra carriage charges for non UK customers.
