Hard Cover. Fine/Near Fine to Fine Dustjacket. First American Edition. Folio - over 12" - 15" tall. 286 pages. A unique look at the Impressionists and the world around them. More than 200 full-color reproductions representing the best works of the artists, but the most important feature of this compelling book is the outstanding collection of late-nineteenth-and early-twentieth-century photographs, many never before published, that duplicate the scenes of the paintings. Compare the work of the artists with the actual photos of the places.A lovely, well-made book, bound in a sturdy red cloth-covered boards, with pages of coated, high-grade, glossy paper. The book itself is essentially flawless, but for a brief, previous owner's gift inscription on the blank front-free endpaper. It is exceptionally clean, it stands perfectly straight, and it is extremely firm and tight in its binding, no pages loose, missing, folded or torn. The hinges are sound and undamaged, the corner tips are sharp and unbumped. All the pages are clean, unsoiled and unsmudged, and all text and artwork are clear, bright, sharp, crisp and very legible. There is no writing, underlining, highlighting or markings of any kind in the book. NO bookplates. NOT ex-library. NOT a book club edition. The dustjacket is exceptionally clean, price-clipped but otherwise complete and intact, no other pieces missing, no tears, no wrinkles, no folds, no creases, with very brief, extremely occasional, light wear at the extremties.
