Descripción:

77pp. Lewisohn, a major force in American and Jewish culture at the turn of the century, was a creative and prolific writer and pioneering Zionist. This short tale proved to be an eerie foreshadowing of what was to come under the Nazi regime. The story is about an exiled Jewish Baron, forced to become Roman Catholic by his wife, he returns to his homeland to help reconstruct the country after a civil war. He is however arrested, charged with treason and sentenced to death. Convinced that his real crime is to be Jewish, he determines to die as a Jewish martyr and gives the command to fire at his own execution, after which the firing squad Captain says "They die game, these Jews".
