Descripción

111pp. Folio. Rebound in card covers. Bristish Parliamentary Paper HC543. Parliamentary Papers of this period are rare. It was not until 1836 that provision was made for their sale to the public. The committee reported that around 60,000 vagrants were perpetually circulating around the country, at the public expense, many of them from Ireland. Each parish employed a contractor to maintain vagrants for 3 days or so and convey them to the county borders. The report led to the Vagrancy Act of 1824 which made vagrancy an offence punishable by imprisonment. N° de ref. de la librería 140403
