Sinopsis: This book is the first definitive biography of Tom McCarty, a man who in 1899 was described by the New York "Herald" as the Napoleon of outlawry. At one time, $240,000 in present-day terms was offered for his capture. It is also the story of his family, a good family that unfortunately turned out some disreputable characters, and it is an account of people and institutions that suffered irrevocably from their activities.
Biografía del autor: The authors have collaborated on many publications, most notably their 1996 biography, "Hank Vaughan (1849-1893): A Hell-Raising Horse Trader of the Bunchgrass Territory." The Skovlins are graduates of Oregon State University and now combine the results of both their educations--Jon has degrees in range, wildlife, and forestry sciences--Donna has degrees in English and journalism. The couple live in northeastern Oregon not far from where Tom McCarty spent his last days.
