About the Author:

Dr. Robert Vanderberry was the Medical Director of the Charlotte Treatment Center, a chemical dependency treatment center in Charlotte, NC. In December of 1988, he was chosen as the first Medical Director of the North Carolina Physicians Health Program. He has served on the Governor's Council on Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse and is currently on the Physician Leadership Council for Substance Abuse for North Carolina.

Now fully retired, Bob and his wife, Rixie, live in Raleigh, NC. They have four grown children, and six grandchildren.
