This volume of NZ's extensive official World War Two histories concentrates of the experiences of POW's from the three services captured by the German, Italian or Japanese forces in the various theatres of conflict. The army units suffered their heaviest POW losses in the period from April 1941 to August 1942 in the Greece, Crete and Western Desert campaigns, while NZers serving with the RAF and RNZAF were captured when their aircraft were shot down or crashed, perticularly in the bomber offensive over Europe. Many peripheral issues relating to prisoners, including alian detainees, enemy combatants, are given recognition in this comprehensive study of those who became POWs. First edition of 1954, 546 pages including index, six colour tone fold out maps plus one statistical chart, 71 b/w illustrations, mainly photos wirth some drawings, cartoons etc Green hard covers with gilt spine titles are VG with sight wear spine extremites and corners, few small white spots to rear board, ink inscription top FFEP, text block otherwise excellent.
