Descripción Picturesque Atlas Publishing Compnay, Sydney Melbourne London, 1888. Half-Leather. All three volumes have a handwritten gift inscription to the Benalla Mechanics Institute from John H. Tone on the first blank page and a rectangular library stamp on the copyright page, a bar code label on the verso of the back end paper and all unbound maps are missing, with the exception of the very large postal Queensland in Vol.II. Vol I: The leather is chipped at the tail of the back board, and less so at the head; pp 113 to 116, have been damaged by a pin prick hole which unfortunately goes through the print, though that is still legible and worse still, through the blank edge of one of the prints. The two page map of NSW has been spared, but the holes reappear again, twice this time, from pp 117 to 120, the blank tail edge of pp165/166, 171/172 and 207 have been repaired with clear tape. Vol II: The boards are faded; the tail of the spine bumped and the leather edges chipped; pp 281, 282, 293, 427 have been repaired with clear tape; in page 281 this has lifted the print on the inner, bottom paragraph, the page also suffers from a closed tear at the tail, this one repaired with acid free tape; p 459 has a crease running down the page, a printer's fault and the spine at page 528 is cracked at the taill. Included in Volume II are four pictorial pages from The Leader dated June 27, 1903. Vol. III The borads are rubbed and chipped at the edges, with minor damage to the back paste down and back end paper, the front end paper and the following blank page with the dedication has minor insect damage at the outer edge; pp 579, 678, 679, 759 and 760 have all had short tears at the tail repaired with clear tape, and finllay the last index page as well as the editorial postscript have been glued too close together. Whether a printer's fault or library repair, it's hard to tell. The three volumes are impefect and ex library, but being reference books were never borrowed. Together they make a nice set, solid and clean. The three volumes are exceptionally heavy, please check with us for an accurate postage cost. Size: Elephant Folio - over 15" - 23" tall. Ex Library.
