From Professor Wenger's obituary posted on the website of University of California History: "Gus" Wenger, as he preferred to be called, was born March 12, 1907 in Wheeling, West Virginia. Professor Wenger was a founder of the Society for Psychophysiological Research and one of the few people such as Roland C. Davis and Chester W. He was elected to presidency of the Society in 1963-64 and in 1970 was presented with the Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award of the Society. He was the Archivist of the Society for years and at the time of his death was active in writing the history and role of the Society.
