From the Author:

During my own clinical rotations, or PPEs as they are now referred to, both in pharmacy school and throughout my residency program, there was always information, equations or clinical vignettes that I obtained from other pharmacists, physicians, nurses and nutritionists that made patient care significantly straightforward, manageable and more focused. The type of information that was not always discussed in lecture or textbooks, but rather came about from years of experience, collaboration or research into trying to advance patient care in a positive way. I began to start compiling notes, sketches and flow charts when such information was shared with me and stored it in a small photo album. By the time I graduated from pharmacy school, and then again after completing my pharmacy practice residency, I realized how important having such a secondary "peripheral brain" was to any pharmacy student completing PPEs. After doing some research on available handbooks, I discovered that almost all professions, especially medicine and nursing, had a multitude of such pocket-sized sources of specific, accurate and complete clinical information. I realized that creating such a valuable source of easily referenced information was exactly what pharmacy students would need to help them achieve success in their PPEs and ultimately become truly integrated pharmacy professionals.
