The front cover of the book has several spots of discoloration. The text pages are clean and bright. one of the photographic plates has edge wear and nicking to the foredge. This book includes ten (including the frontispiece) black and white photographs of Tilden and other Tennis players "The departed shades of the Old Champion idly strummed with one hand on the golden strings of his celestial harp and arranged the folds of his celestial robes around him with the other." "William Tatem Tilden II (February 10, 1893 – June 5, 1953), nicknamed "Big Bill," was an American male tennis player. He is often considered one of the greatest tennis players of all time.[2] Tilden was the World No. 1 player for seven years. He won 14 Major singles titles including 10 Grand Slams, 1 World Hard Court Championships and 3 Pro Slams. He also won a record seven US Championships titles (shared with Richard Sears and Bill Larned). He dominated the world of international tennis in the first half of the 1920s, and during his 18-year amateur period of 1912–30, he won 138 of 192 tournaments.". N° de ref. de la librería
