VERY RARE illustrated hardcover book. "Peril and Heroism" Edited by Herbert Strang. From 'The Holiday Series for Boys', this is the Reprinted Edition, published by Humphrey Milford, Oxford University Press, London, 1917. 8vo, 23 cm x 18.3 cm x 2 cm, Blue & cream printed paper-covered boards with inlaid colour vignette on front cover, Cloth bound spine with dark blue embossed lettering & decoration, Decorated front pastedown, Unpaginated, no dust-jacket. Weight: 377 Grams. CONTENTS ARE LIKE NEW!!! However, there are several cracks forming between pages. Spine is discoloured, creased, foxed & slightly marked, 4 small holes in cloth alongside back cover, bumped & scuffed either end. Cover is worn, discoloured & age tanned in places, rubbed & slightly creased, some scratches & bumps, decoration fully visible but worn away in parts, vignette slightly scuffed & scratched, paper split & damaged on edges. Corners are bumped & frayed with boards exposed & worn away there. End papers slightly marked. Ink annotation on 1st end paper. Small mark in margin of Frontispiece. 2 pages have a small tear on bottom edge. A few pages inc. plates have tiny edge bumps/nicks, and/or smudges/marks mostly in margins, and/or creasing in bottom edge near tail, and/or corner folds/creases, and/or light handling creases. Light age tanning & occasional foxing throughout. VERY RARE ITEM, EXCELLENT CONDITION INSIDE!!!
